About the Photos

All the photos in this collection were taken in 2006 and 2007 at the annual Sombrero Ranch round up and horse drive. Sombrero Ranch owns close to 2000 horses that are leased each summer for summer camps, dude ranches and hunting concerns. The horses winter on a vast range in Northwest Colorado. Every spring they are rounded up and driven by cowboys over 50 miles to their home ranch to be prepared for the upcoming season. The drive takes place over two days. Guest riders come from all over the country to participate as well as many local cowboys who help round up and drive the herd. It is a sight to see and something the whole community turns out to watch.
